CAPITAL C is fully funded!

Joe, Tom, Matt, Martina, Jan, and me, would like to say:

Thank you! Vielen Dank! Muchas gracias! Merci beaucoup! Baie dankie! شكرا! Огpомное спасибо! Дуже дякую! Xin cảm ơn! Tack så mycket! Domo arigato!

We can’t express how grateful we are for your support!
The world’s first feature-length documentary about the crowd revolution will become a reality, BECAUSE OF YOU! And we are so happy to have all of you on board!

This whole project is a team effort, so feel free to get in touch with us any time, let us know what you think, provide us with feedback, or even meet us on the road!

The last weeks were quite a ride for us; we were contacted by the organizers of festivals, distributors (worldwide!), and an unbelievable number of media representatives. What more can a filmmaker dream of at this early stage of production?! That clearly shows the real potential of crowd funding, which is so much more than just money.

Within the next weeks, we will put our equipment to the acid test, decide which cameras will be used and then start shooting. Finally! We can’t wait to begin, and we just have to say it once more: Thank you so, so much!!

Best,
Timmy

P.S.: Oh, and there is someone else who would like to say THANK YOU:

We reached $80,000!

Dear supporters!

Joseph from NYC just dropped me a line: „Hey, I want to put the last $61 in!“ So he did!

Guys, we made it! YOU made it! Thank you!

And this is just the beginning…

We will meet some of you in person soon because you invited us via Kickstarter or because you offered your help during production or simply because you are one of our great interviewees. We can’t wait!

For those of you we don’t meet in person, you are still part of the in-crowd! ;-)
By visiting the update section of the project regularly, all backers will have front row seats for the production of CAPITAL C.

Of course, there are still 3 more days to go. So, now is the time to adjust your pledge, or to make that pledge you were holding off on so that CAPITAL C will be truly exceptional. Every dollar will count!

We can’t say it often enough: we are so grateful for what you have made possible so far! Thank you again, guys! You are our heroes!

Best,
Timmy

New Interviewee: Molly Crabapple

With three crowd funding campaigns, Molly Crabapple from New York City is not only a true crowd funding veteran, she is also a great artist, who has successfully drawn the attention of the crowd to her art.

Molly is the founder of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School and has drawn for The New York Times (which calls her “a downtown phenomenon”), Wall Street Journal, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Red Bull, and Playgirl, and illustrated eight books.

She has just finished her most recent project with the help of the crowd:
“Shell Game: An Art Show About the Financial Meltdown.”

To make it short: If you have never heard of Molly, you definitely should, so we are really happy to announce her as one of our interviewees for CAPITAL C!

Best,
Timmy

New Interviewee: Jimmy Wales

When Jimmy Wales started Wikipedia over ten years ago, he earned a lot of funny looks. It was just unthinkable that volunteers from all across the world could come together to create a remarkable pool of human knowledge – all for the simple purpose of sharing.

Today, Wikipedia is constantly ranked among the top ten most visited websites of the world, while almost a third of the Internet-connected world is using the world’s largest encyclopedia as their resource of knowledge

We are proud and honored to have Jimmy on board of Capital C!

Best,
Timmy

New Interviewee: Zach Crain

CHA CHA WEEEEEEE YEEEEEHAAAAAA!

These were the exact words of Zach Crain, founder and CEO of Freaker USA, when we asked him to participate in CAPITAL C. We took it as a “yes”.

Long before we even had a title for CAPITAL C we knew: Zach and the rest of his Freaker USA gang have to be part of our movie! So, this is something personal here today!

The idea of the Freaker guys is as simple as genius: Just take a basic product (koozie, coastie, cozy, coosie, cooolie, or however you want to call a bottle insulating sleeve), mix it with freaky designs, spice it up with a master freak, and what you’ll get is: the Freaker.

But hey, take a look at their pitch video and you’ll know what we are talking about:

We can’t wait to meet the Freaker guys this summer to talk with them about rocket science and crowd freaking.

So, we are really happy to add Zach to the list of our extraordinary interviewees today!

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

New Interviewee: Timo Vuorensola

Two weeks ago, a loooong story came to a happy ending:

My friends and I went to the movies and bought tickets for Iron Sky, a sci-fi film I had first heard about back in 2009.

At that time, 5,504 miles from Hollywood, some strange guys from Finland were going to shoot a movie about Nazis on the dark side of the moon.

To make things even stranger: The filmmakers were already selling film-related merchandise, but hadn’t started shooting yet. Indeed, this approach was a bit unusual. But over the years, the filmmakers built an astonishing online community around Iron Sky and made crowd funding history…

2012: With a budget of approx. $10,000,000, Iron Sky hit the big screen all across Europe, has already earned a great IMDb-rating and several awards, and was shown at SXSW.

Today, we can proudly announce that Iron Sky director Timo Vuorensola will share his story with us this summer and let us know how he and his team managed to gain the support of the crowd. And, of course, we are excited to learn what that meant for him and his creative freedom as a director! Yeah!

Best,
Timmy

New Interviewee: Scott Thomas

In 2008 two men from Chicago held totally different job-descriptions:

The first man was busy trying to save the world. The second man was busy helping the first become the next President of the United States.

Well, the first man is still trying hard to do so, while the second has successfully accomplished his mission and has created Designing Obama, a crowdfunded and self-published chronicle of the art and design from the historic campaign.

And yes, we are very happy to announce Scott Thomas, the Design Director of the 2008 Obama campaign, as one of our interviewees who will talk with us about reaching out to the crowd!

Best,
Timmy

Interviewee update!

By now we’ve talked with far over a hundred crowd funders and experts. We’ve heard exciting stories and statements about crowd funding, how it all began, and how it is shaping our future.

Never before we have talked with a more diverse group of people about the same topic and it’s really thrilling to find one word mentioned in so many different conversations. The word is revolution.

So for us, it is essential to pick the right interviewees to tell the story of this revolution upright and honest.

Today, we`ll introduce some of those fascinating folks to you. And of course, there are many more to come. We will do all interviews in North America and Europe this summer:

http://capitalc-movie.com/cast/

But first: Thank you for your amazing support! There is still a lot of money to be raised for bringing CAPITAL C to life, but we are confident to make it together with you!

Best,
Timmy

CAPITAL C featured on THE NEXT WEB

Finally we hit the launch button of our Kickstarter campaign for CAPITAL C – how the crowd liberates itself!

And guess what happened right afterwards: We didn’t even get the chance to tell our moms and dads that we are online as we received calls and mails from several online publications.

Therefore we had our first interview with THE NEXT WEB just three hours after our project-launch. And these guys are traveling at the speed of light, so you can already find the first article about CAPITAL C on THE NEXT WEB.

During the next days we will have several more interviews on our schedule as well as appointments with people who were amazed by the concept of CAPITAL C and would like to be part of it.

That’s just great!

But of course our first mission goal has to be: let’s get the funding of CAPITAL C off the ground!

We would like to shout out a heartfelt thank you to our very first supporters! Spread the word! With your support we will make it!

Best,
Timmy
